This beautiful Georgian 18ct Yellow Gold brooch is 18th Century.
Set with deep red flat cut Garnets which are set in an original 18ct Gold closed backed setting.
The Garnet has been adored throughout history for it’s deep red colouring that resembles a Pomegranate. It is said to be a stone of purity, truth and a symbol of love and compassion.
Due to its age, Georgian jewellery is quite rare, with some pieces almost three hundred years old. From 1714 until 1837 four King Georges and a short-lived William gave rise to this extended period, spanning many fashions that are reflected in these stunning pieces of Georgian jewellery.
This is a fabulous rare Georgian piece that is steeped in history.
