A beautiful antique Victorian brooch showcasing a large cushion cut paste stone displaying a vivid electric blue hue and bright inner sparkle. It’s framed by twinkling rose cut diamonds around the border, totalling approx. 0.96ct.
Paste is a heavy, transparent flint glass that has been used since ancient times to simulate the beauty of gemstones. The art of cutting paste takes expert craftsmanship and the highest quality stones are often able to replicate the cut, colour and sparkle of natural gems to near perfection.
The gallery is modelled in 15ct gold and features pierced sides and a pin and safety chain at the back to hold it secure. It dates to the late 19th Century and is in excellent condition.
